Supporting America's Sons
and Daughters in the Military
A message from the President of BSMNY#1, Joyce Mader:
Welcome to the Blue Star Mothers of America, Inc., New York Chapter # 1 Website. We are a very busy Chapter.
We are not large but we get the job done. Even when we have a disaster in the middle of a project, we manage to pull through. You know that old saying “Always darkest before the dawn”?
Well, it is true! We have proof! But, with the resolution and grit that gets Moms through teething, potty training
and the teenage years, we manage to bring home the project! We have an amazing group of dedicated women who give their all to our troops and our vets.
The best words you can ever hear are “That was so good!” or “That box really made my day!” These phrases are music to our collective ears.
It is hard enough to find your way in the modern world and doubly so when there is a war on. We send our children out to do a very dangerous job and pray them
through it. The Blue Star Mothers of America, Inc., helps to keep you grounded and gives you a goal while your child is deployed to hotbeds around the world.
We value our veterans as well and do what we can to help and thank them for their service. Many times they are forgotten and that is what we have set out to change.
Please visit the pictures of our Blue Star Canteen, created to make a home away from home for our veterans and troops. We have had a tremendous outpouring
of help from the surrounding communities in the Finger Lakes Region which has moved this project along at warp speed. We are so grateful to one and all. You have our eternal thanks.
Please enjoy our website and don’t be afraid to come and be part of our various projects. If you are a Mom or Dad or relative of a soldier, we are here to help
you make it through. Keeping your mind busy helps the time go faster till you can greet them at the airport again. Come and shake the hand of a survivor of the
Battle of the Bulge and learn about that time in history first hand. Hear what Korea was like sixty years ago. You won’t regret it. Find out how to make a difference in a
veteran’s life by taking him to a special program at the VA. We have met the most amazing people through the Blue Star Mothers and we would love for you to have the same privilege.
We thank you for your continued support. We thank you for your love of our soldiers and our veterans. But, most of all, we thank them for their service and sacrifice.
